NTT DoCoMo has adopted this strategy in its home market of Japan, aiming to launch Super 3G before the rest of the world. DoCoMo is in an advantageous position, however, in that it is the market leader in its home market with high data ARPU via its i-mode and FOMA services. This gives it the luxury of taking this decision, as even a slight roll-out delay will not adversely affect its market position.
