International brands were also suffering in China because of this transition factor, the migration of some CDMA networks, and the general market turmoil. Non-Chinese handsets' total share slipped by 1.3% in the third quarter, a very rare occurrence in recent years, when the rise of wealth has stimulated demand for western and Japanese products. The main losers were Motorola and Sony Ericsson and this, in turn, hit their Taiwanese manufacturing partners. The strongest Chinese performers were those with heavy export orientation, notably
Huawei, TCL, ZTE and Konka, which benefited from growth in India, the Middle East, Africa, and south east Asia.
