iPhone helps Apple to record quarter, but margins under pressure

Another of the iPhone's key US rivals, the T-Mobile/HTC G1, is also selling well, though not as rapidly as the Apple handset or the Nokia 5800. T-Mobile USA has sold one million G1s since launch in October 2008, revealed parent company Deutsche Telekom at its results announcement this week - a high figure given the US arm's relatively small size and 3G coverage. With other Android phones about to launch, T-Mobile USA may be dangerously over dependent on one model - the G1 accounts for two-thirds of all 3G devices it has sold.
