Vodafone says it has now rolled out mobile advertising services across 18 operating company markets and has seen strong revenue growth in this area as it has broadened its services, despite the economic slowdown.
"Vodafone Marketing Solutions has run over 2,000 campaigns across its global footprint for hundreds of global brands" in the past year, said the company in a statement. Customers are increasingly interested in new formats such as branded content, sponsored alerts, opt-in push messaging and advertising on service-based text messages, and the move beyond conventional banners is driving much of the growth.
Rick Fant, head of internet discovery at Vodafone, said: "Mobile advertising offers a combination of great response rates alongside the opportunity for advertisers to reach out to and engage with their customers."
The operator aims to expand its reach in the coming year by adding operating companies, affiliates and partners, as well as new services. Among the affiliate cellcos that could boost the business significantly are China Mobile, as well as Austria's Mobilkom, Proximus in Belgium and South Africa's Vodacom.
