After the rush of announcements at the Consumer Electronics Show, we are now in anticipation mode. Apple has confirmed its product launch, scheduled for January 27 and expected to be the long awaited tablet. And Nokia has sent out invitations for a London event, where it promises "big news" about Ovi, to be presented by EVP Anssi Vanjoki.
The Nokia news is most likely to be release 2.0 of its Ovi Store, which the company stressed was "very much work in progress" when it hit some glitches last year. The Finnish giant last week extended Ovi Store to its Maemo Linux-based operating system too, though only in beta release.
Meanwhile, Apple's invitation asks analysts to "come see our latest creation" at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. This should be the highest profile appearance of CEO Steve Jobs since his return to work after treatment for liver cancer. The tablet is expected to come with a 10-inch screen and to double as a mobile media/web device and a home entertainment hub.
