Amazon has also adopted the Apple revenue split of 70:30. Amazon said that 'active content' that uses less than 100Kb per month of wireless data will be sold as a one-time purchase, others as a monthly subscription. Very small apps of less than 1Mb in size may be offered for free. This is very different from the usual app store approach, and makes a clear differentiation between light usage and apps that could be regarded as bandwidth hogs by the carriers providing embedded connectivity for the Kindle. In other words, like Apple, Amazon will look to shift the whole business and profit model, not just ride on the tablet and app store bandwagons. "Kindle is capable of offering readers a broad range of content that goes beyond what the book is today," said Drew Herdener, a spokesperson for Amazon.
