He also, like many operators, sees Wi-Fi as a lifesaver, offloading much of this traffic from the HSPA network. "It's going to be interesting to see how people use the iPad," he said. "We think it will be a largely Wi-Fi driven product." He thinks most users will not sign up for an additional cellular data plan for iPad and will be attracted to the lower upfront and running cost of the Wi-Fi only versions, or will buy the dual-mode model but only use 3G occasionally - the reason for the prepaid model with multiple usage tiers for the iPad.
