Despite being undecided whether it wants to be an abstract painter or a classical composer pictures have been leaked of the HTC Mondrian/Mozart. Known as the Mondrian, sometimes the Mozart and also just to add to the confusion the Schubert, one thing is for certain that the HTC handset will be running Windows Phone 7. Despite looking identical on the outside it's possible that the Mozart and Schubert could differ internally, as Microsoft hopes to launch Windows Phone 7 in several different territories and on several different carriers.
From the pictures it's clear the device will be in the slate form factor, with a windows button sitting below the touchscreen and a back which can be removed in multiple parts. The two sections of the case which can be removed include one at the bottom of the handset for the SIM card and battery and intriguingly one at the top which covers the area around the camera. It's unclear from the picture what use removing the top part of the case could be as the SIM card and battery slot can clearly be seen at the bottom of the device. The camera, speculated to be 5mp, is quite large and features an LED the flash. The case is a combination of black matte plastic for the covers and a metallic finish for the rest of the body.
Rumoured specs for the phone suggest that it could be running a 1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, with a 4.3" capacitative touchscreen with an 800x480 resolution and 1GB of internal memory (which can no doubt be expanded to 32GB with a MicroSD card).
While little more is known at the moment back in June the phone under the Mozart name was found on the Australian Telstra site for free with a AUS $49 (US $43) contract. While the image on the site features a slightly different form factor there are some similarities and it could indicate an October release if Telstra's information is accurate.
