More information has been leaked on the upcoming Nokia smartphone the C6-01, some reliable some not so reliable. Available for pre-order a few weeks ago from a website in the Netherlands it is known the camera will offer an improved 8mp camera, over its predecessors 5mp offering, and it will have a 3.2" touchscreen. More excitingly though less reliably a Bulgarian website has accidentally released pictures (which have since been removed) of the handset running Symbian^3.
The leaked picture of the C6-01 is said to come from the Bulgarian website confusing the device with the earlier C6-00 model which ran S60 5th edition. This seems like a likely explanation and it would make sense for the new handset to be running the latest version of Symbian.
Symbian^3 was completed earlier this year in June and will be available on its first device, the Nokia N8, soon. It is said to pack in "over 250 new features" which will deliver a smartphone experience close to that of Android with multitouch and HD video functionality.
Little is known about about the C6-01 apart from it having an 8mp camera and HD touchscreen. Other definite features will be Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. The previous iteration in the C6 series featured a 434MHz processor, 3.2" screen with a 360x640 resolution and 128MB of RAM, pretty low by today's smartphone standards. Despite looking similar one major difference aside from the internal hardware will be the lack of the sliding QWERTY that the C6-00 featured. It has a rumoured price tag of $355 and may come in a choice black or white.
It won't be long before the rumours are confirmed as Nokia are expected to be announcing the device, as well as the C7 at this year's Nokia World which will run from September 14-15.
