It may not even have a proper codename yet but pictures have emerged of a red and black slider from HTC which looks like it will be arriving at Verizon sometime in the near future.
Little is known about the device which currently bears the label "HTC PD42100" except for the specs revealed when it gained FCC approval this weekend. The internal hardware is a mystery apart from some educated guesses but on the outside it looks like an impressive handset sporting a red and black sliding QWERTY. Judging by information from the FFC it looks to be a dual-mode handset aka a world phone.
What can be gleaned from current sources is that is has a large 4" display on top of a four-row sliding QWERTY and will support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n at 2.4GHz. With the large display and the possibility that it will run Andoid 3.0 it has been rumoured that it will feature a 1.2GHz processor. There's also the suggestion the processor will be a dual core chip. The pictures confirm it will have a removable battery, a feature that is becoming increasingly common in smartphones. Engadget reports it's capable of supporting a minimum of CDMA 2000, GSM 850 and also EV-DO rev.
There's no doubt this is a Verizon phone, the logo can be seen clearly in the photos, and it seems likely it will be arriving early 2011. Similar in size to the HTC EVO 4G there is already a lot of buzz surrounding the handset despite it not even having a codename and the fact that the early build which is seen now will probably change much before its release.
If the specs can live up to the speculation, in addition the attractive red and black styling, this looks like it could be another exciting offering from HTC.
