Notably, Samsung has no intention of releasing a Symbian device. While it may introduce Symbian models in the future if consumers demand materialises, none are planned.
Between Android, bada and Window Phone, Samsung should be able to comfortably meet its revised 25 million target by yearend. However, whether it can double its share of the market in the same period is a different story. While the Galaxy S is a quality device which has been backed by an aggressively global marketing campaign, there's one factor which has not been acknowledged - the growing appeal of smartphones to consumers. This appeal is translating into growing demand which all smartphone manufacturers are benefitting from, not just Samsung. While Samsung's smartphone sales are likely to be above its original forecast, the same is likely for many of its competitors.
