Ruckus promises carrier grade Wi-Fi for offload
Taps into key operator trend with closely integrated system to ease 3G strain

Ruckus Wireless has been extending its business in Wi-Fi based home video networks into outdoor systems and particularly mobile data offload, the most discussed use of WLan technology by cellcos desperate to ease the data and signalling stress on their 3G networks.
Ruckus' new Mobile Internet range targets offload by mobile and broadband operators, and are specifically designed to integrate with carrier grade infrastructure. The products include
"There's been a transition for operators when it comes to thinking about Wi-Fi," Steven Glapa, director of carrier business development, told FierceBroadbandWireless. "A few years ago operators were looking at Wi-Fi as a Band-aid for 3G traffic. Now there is discussion around its strategic long term play."
