Sharp have a habit of releasing impressively spec'd devices in its native Japan which never see the light of the day in the US and the latest is the Aquos Phone 102SH. This week has already seen two Disney branded handsets announced that are based on Sharp Aquos Phones but the 102SH is definitely one for the big boys and should be released later this year with carrier Softbank.
Resolution isn't everything when it comes to smartphone cameras but its 12mp snapper sets the tone for the rest of the handset. Beneath a large 4.5" display there's a dual-core 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. There's also 2GB of ROM and a 32GB microSD card is included in the box. Not only is the screen big but it's capable of displaying glasses-free 3D as well at a pixel density of 329dpi.
Other big numbers associated with this device include 21Mbps mobile internet speeds on Softbank's "ultra speed" high-speed data communication service. For those who plan on risking getting it wet it's waterproof as well and is quite slim at 9.7mm. Other features include a digital TV tuner and an infra-red connection.
The phone is the second waterproof Sharp device to be announced in Japan this week as KDDI also revealed that it will be the selling the less impressively spec'd IS13SH.

There's no word yet on pricing but Softbank customers can expect to pick one of these up starting in December.
While any plans Sharp may have to release these devices outside of Japan remain firmly under wraps back in May it did say it would introduce the Aquos brand worldwide at some point. With such drool-worthy specs there's no doubt that it would be welcomed with open arms in the US.
