No surprise releases or announcements here as right on schedule and as expected T-Mobile has officially taken the covers off the Nokia Lumia 710 revealing pricing and availability. The handset will be the carrier's first Nokia Windows Phone boosting its WP7 lineup and helping the collaboration between the Finnish and Redmond giants make more of a splash in the US. As expected it's going to be an affordable device and with a $50 price tag on a contract it's easy to see it doing well.
It may not be as stylish as the Lumia 800 but it's certainly an attractive handset and under it's 3.7" display offers a 1.4GHz single-core processor backed up by 512MB of RAM. There's also 8GB of internal storage and a rear-facing 5mp camera, powering it all is a 1300mAh battery expected to last for 7.6hrs of 3G talk time.
The official announcement confirms that it will only be available in Black and White rather than the range of colours it's available in across the Atlantic.
"The Nokia Lumia 710 is the perfect first-time smartphone: a well-designed product that delivers the most compelling Windows Phone experience in its price range and with access to great content and thousands of applications" said Chris Weber, president of Nokia Americas.
January 11 2012 is the day when those who haven't purchased their first smartphone yet, or just anyone curious about the Microsoft/Nokia partnership willing to jump ship from Android or iOS, can pick up the device from the carrier. The phone's product page is already up on T-Mobile's site where interested customers can sign up to be notified when it becomes available. Its $50 price tag is after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a 2 year agreement plus a qualifying data plan.

Currently T-Mobile only offers one other Windows Phone, and that's the HTC Radar, but there was talk that the Lumia 900 might arrive at the carrier as well at some point. The 710 is shaping up to be more reasonable than the HTC Radar which is priced at $99 on a two-year contract.
