When Huawei released its MediaPad tablet last year it was among the first to come with Android 3.2 installed. Although it isn't releasing an updated version in terms of its hardware Huawei has announced it is going to release an update to Ice Cream Sandwich for the devices. In addition to this it's shipping all new MediaPads with the OS installed, meaning it will again be among the first to come with the latest build already loaded.
There may not be a bump in specs with the new models but anyone after a MediaPad will now have a choice of getting the device in brown, black and pink in addition to the original colour scheme.
It may have been released in the summer last year but the internal hardware of the MediaPad is still quite strong with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, Adreno 220GPU and 1GB of RAM. Its 7" display offers a 1280x800 resolution and the battery is said to last for around six hours.
"With a hardware package that includes a high-quality screen, a powerful dual-core processor, and long battery life, these colorful MediaPad embodies a rare combination of style and performance" said Richard Yu from Huawei.
There's no denying the new colour schemes are eye catching and the tablet can still hold its own performance-wise even after six months on the market.

Current MediaPad owners can expect an update to Android 4.0 to be delivered in the first quarter this year. In the US the device may be more familiar as T-Mobile's SpringBoard but there's no word yet from the carrier on when the Android update will reach its version of the tablet. In the UK the MediaPad has recently been launched with carrier Orange where it has been rebranded as the Tahiti and is being offered for as little as free on a contract.
