Back in November the news leaked that HTC was working on a quad-core handset known as the Edge which would be released this year. Although no further information has been revealed about its hardware according to a source at Pocket Now internally the phone has been renamed the Endeavour and could hit stores as the Supreme. Both names seem appropriate for the device which will be one of the most powerful handsets out there, HTC or otherwise, when it arrives.
While it seems like an unusual move to change a codename there is speculation that it could have something to do with so much being known about the device so far ahead of its release. Given the impressive hardware it's going to be offering HTC will no doubt want to generate a fair amount of hype.
The key specs are already known to smartphone fans and should include a 1.5GHz quad-core chip, 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. On top of it all is a large 4.7" "optically laminated" display plus an 8mp camera on the rear. If all the details currently rumoured are accurate then it's also going to come with Android 4.0 installed, which such a powerful handset would be remiss not to ship with.
The Taiwanese phone maker has yet to confirm anything but it's believed that the Endeavour will find itself launched at the MWC next month followed by a release in early Spring.
It's not the only HTC handset set to be released this Spring and it was recently reported that the less impressive Ville is also going to be available around that time with T-Mobile. With a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and smaller 4.3" display the Ville should make for a more affordable device than the Edge/Endeavour/Supreme and appears to be keeping its name.
