Hitting Verizon at the same time as the Spectrum the BlackBerry Curve 9370 is not quite as impressive as the LG handset, cutting an affordable dash. It's pretty much your run of the mill BlackBerry from RIM but can boast world phone status even if it can't boast 4G connectivity. Externally it's another face that gets lost in the BlackBerry crowd and offers no distinguishing features with its full QWERTY keyboard below a small screen.

Running BlackBerry's OS7 it packs an 800MHz processor backed up by 512MB of RAM and a lowly 1GB of internal storage. On the back there's a 5mp camera with flash and the display measures 2.44". The hardware is fairly ho-hum but it will also offer NFC connectivity.

On the plus side an update to BlackBerry OS 7.1 is promised, though it's not been mentioned when. The improved version of the OS will bring with it some features that are familiar to Android and iOS users but will be welcome additions to BlackBerry fans. These include Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, BlackBerry tags for convenient sharing via NFC and FM radio capabilities.

Those still faithful to RIM can pick up the Curve 9370 for just $99.99 on a two-year contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate. It might be hard to say faithful for long as the company's market share continues to decline and there aren't any signs of things getting better in 2012. BlackBerry OS 10 is planned for the end of this year but until then it looks like it's going to be a quiet one for RIM.

Samsung has denied rumours this week of taking over RIM leading to speculation of what the next move for the BlackBerry maker is, including some suggesting that it should adopt Android or Windows Phone. However the most exciting thing the company has on the cards at the moment is the comeback of the PlayBook with two new models which are expected to be released this year.
