Although it wasn't officially announced at CES the Acer Iconia A510 was still on show there and now more details have emerged about its release date and pricing. According to tabletcommunity.de a low-key press event held by the company has indicated that the tablet will be released in Europe in April for a price of around $500. While it's been said this figure could be dropped to make it more competitive the month of its release seems certain.
Like the Iconia A700 that was officially announced at CES it has a 10.1" display but with a lower 1280x800 resolution. Apart from this fact the A510 is still as well spec'd and packs an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with the possibility of a 32GB and 64GB variant. In addition to this it will also include Dolby Mobile sound as well as front and rear-facing cameras.
As the name suggests the A510 is an updated version of the A500 the main difference between the two being an extra two cores in its processor. The new tablet also offers the bonus of having Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed. A variant with 4G connectivity has been confirmed as well, the A511, though when it's due to be released is not known.
When or if the US can expect to get the A510 has not been confirmed but it will be getting the A700 which should be available around the same time with a release pegged for Q2 this year. With the exception of the higher resolution screen the A700 offers pretty much the same features as the upcoming European slate.
It may have been absent from Acer's booth, yet made it to Nvidia's, at CES earlier this month but it should be putting in a more official appearance at CeBIT in March.
