Anyone who has been waiting for the Droid 4 to arrive may be interested to learn that it now seems the phone will launch for just $199.99 on a contract. The news comes from a leaked MAP document indicating the price drop making it the first 4G LTE-equipped handset other than the recently launched spectrum to go on sale for that price from the first day of its release. While a leaked document isn't always a certainty the possibility of the price drop is backed up by BGR which claims to have already been told about it.
Aside from packing all the high-end hardware you'd expect in the specs department it can also claim the honour of being the first 4G LTE handset from Verizon which features overseas roaming capabilities. Inside there's a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a 4" display much like the Droid RAZR except that it comes with a 5-row slide-out qwerty keyboard.
In addition to the Droid 4 being discounted the list also indicates that the Black and White versions of the 32GB Droid RAZR are going to drop to $279.99 and the Droid Bionic to $149.99.
Originally thought to be getting released back in December there's still no official word on when the device is going to hit the carrier. All the signs are good though that it's going to make the rumoured February release window when its expected to land on the second of the month.
It's been a bit of a wait for the handset but it looks like it will be worth it in the end. Droid fans have not been entirely left out in the cold however and the Droid Xyboards, Droid Razr and just this week the Droid Razr Maxx have all been released at the carrier in the last couple of months.
