Verizon's ZTE V66 poses for SIG cameras

Anyone anticipating ZTE's upcoming V66 tablet can now get a good idea of what it looks like thanks to a picture posted at the Bluetooth SIG. The image reveals what you'd expect for a slate with average specs and that's your average non-descript tablet form factor. It's been a month since the tablet was spotted at the FCC outing the device which although not spectacular in the hardware department will offer LTE connectivity at what should be a reasonable price.

In addition to an LTE radio the V66 is set to come loaded with a 7" display and 1.2GHz dual-core processor as well as front and rear-facing cameras. Android 3.2 is its OS of choice and powering the slate is a 4000mAh battery.

Verizon isn't the only one that's set to get a ZTE-made tablet as Sprint is going to be launching the ZTE Optik (aka ZTE V55) on February 5. It appears to feature more or less the same specs as the V66, minus the LTE connectivity, with a 7" display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a 4000mAh battery. Details of the hardware are a bit more specific on this one and it's also going to offer 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There's a 5mp snapper on the rear, a 2mp camera on the front and just like the V66 it runs Android 3.2 with no sign of an update to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Touted as the "bridge between portable and affordable" it's going to set consumers back $99.99 on a contract. It may not have LTE but it can function as a mobile 3G hotspot for up to five devices.

There's no word yet on when Verizon is releasing the tablet and when it does arrive it's probably going to launch with a snazzier name. If the Optik is anything to go by then it shouldn't cost too much on a contract.
