Yesterday evidence of an upgraded version of the Galaxy SII+ was leaked and now it seems more proof has appeared to support the leak in the form of an image of the handset. The image depicts a device which looks very much like the original with the exception that it now features a complete set of capacitive buttons and is seen running Android 4.0.
Infamous smartphone leaker Eldar Murtazin is credited as the image's source lending some credence to the idea that this device is well on its way to consumers. However some have called the image out as a fake so it's worth taking the news with a pinch of salt.
It isn't the first time that Eldar Murtazin has offered up some new information on Samsung's plans lately though and last week also saw him claim that he got his hands on the much anticipated Galaxy SIII.
A benchmark test was the first source to mention the Galaxy SII+ revealing little else than it will get its processor boosted to a 1.5GHz chip. Contrary to today's leaked image it also mentioned that it was going to be running Android 2.3 rather than Ice Cream Sandwich.
Things are looking reasonably good for an official reveal of the Galaxy SII+ at the MWC this month and it's probably going to be joined on the floor by the Galaxy S Advance which has already been announced by Samsung. Each will be making up for the absence of the Galaxy SIII which is set to be unveiled at a separate event closer to its mid-year release.
Whatever minor improvements are made to the SII they're likely to pale in comparison to the quad-core prowess and 12mp rear-facing camera the SIII is expected to offer. For those who aren't bothered about upgrading but are interested in getting the latest version of Android for their Galaxy SII the update should be released early this year.
