Thanks to the Carphone Warehouse consumers in the UK can now get their hand on the market's thinnest slate yet in the form of Toshiba's AT200. The tablet's arrival has been a quiet one and although it doesn't offer anything revolutionary in terms of its hardware it's skinny form factor is surely worth advertising.
Internal specs are fairly run of the mill and inside the AT200 comes with a dual-core 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor, 1GB of RAM and an option of 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. It also boasts a 10.1" display, microSD card slot and a rear-facing 5mp camera as well as a front-facing 1.3mp one. Despite coming with some solid specs the downside is that it's only going to come with Android 3.0 installed though an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich is in the works. However when exactly this will be is a bit of a mystery at the moment.
It's not one of the cheapest slates out there with the Carphone Warehouse offering it for £399 for the 16GB model, or £449 for the version with 32GB of storage, but it will at least come with some temporary bragging rights for being the thinnest slate at 7.7mm. The tablet's availability in the UK precedes the release of the device in the US where it is set to land at some point in Q1 as the Excite X10. When it does hit North America it's going to cost $529.99 for the 16GB model and $599.99 for the 32GB variant.

Price-wise it's inline with Apple's iPad 2 but doesn't go that extra mile with its specs to make it a serious competitor. The update to ICS may be on its way but considering the tablet first came to light six months ago it's a shame it couldn't have launched with the latest version of Android.
