As far as tablets that aren't the iPad go Samsung's Galaxy Tab is easily one of the most successful so far. Now the 7" model's successor has been announced and it looks like it's going for affordability over impressive specs. That's not to say the specs are bad and it will come with the welcome addition of Ice Cream Sandwich.
Key specs include a 10.1" display, a choice of 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. This is pretty good but nothing sensational and further evidence that the tablet is going to be targeted at the entry level market is a rear-facing 3mp camera and front-facing VGA camera, not exactly the best camera combo out there. It's also not going for the thinnest tablet title and is a fairly chunky, at least compared to some devices, 10.3mm thick.
As well as this it will be available in 3G and Wi-Fi only varieties and powered by a 4,00mAh battery. The specs don't represent a huge departure from the previous Galaxy Tab, the main difference being the version of Android it ships with, though everything points to it being a more affordable offering than before.
Leaked pricing for Scandinavian countries including, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark indicates a price tag that converts to around $450. Samsung may be shy about revealing it's price but this won't stay unofficial for long as the company is planning to release it in March starting with the UK followed by a global rollout.

With its release so close it seems inevitable Samsung will be showing this off at the Mobile World Congress at the end of this month along with whatever new handsets it reveals. It's probably no accident that the new tablet is getting released so close to the rumoured launch of Apple's next tablet and when the Galaxy SIII arrives it seems more than likely it's going to go head to head with the new iPhone.
