Anyone looking for an affordable Android device in the UK will soon have a new option in the form of the Defy Mini. Motorola has announced that it's going to be landing in the UK late next month a release that will be heralded by a special event called the "Urban Mountain Disco". Hosted by Radio 1 DJ Mista Jam and featuring UK singer Maverick Sabre it's a pretty good indication that this device is being targeted a younger demographic. However with its rugged features and affordable specs it should appeal to a wide range of consumers.
With a 3.2" display on top the Defy Mini comes loaded with a 600MHz processor, 512MB of RAM and Android 2.3. There's also a 3mp rear-facing camera and a front-facing VGA camera for video calling and a 1650mAh battery. The specs might not be spectacular but on the plus side what it lacks in processing power it makes up for in battery life and is said to offer 10 hours of talk time. Aside from its hardware the Defy Mini is dust-proof, water resistant and has a layer of Gorilla glass making its screen scratch resistant.
Although it didn't look like it was going to launch in the US at first the device was recently seen passing through the FCC with the green light for GSM bands 850 and 1900 as well as WCDMA bands II and V. This suggests that it's going to hit AT&T at some point in the future but the carrier has yet to make an official announcement.

In addition to the UK the handset is on track to be released in other parts of Europe as well as China and Latin America during the spring. Motorola hasn't confirmed its pricing but it's already appeared online for pre-order indicating it will be sold for around £175 ($283) unlocked.
