We've already heard of the Huawei Ascend P1 and P1 S, they were revealed at CES earlier this year, but now it looks like the phone-maker has something more special planned for the MWC next week. The company has released several images of a handset known as the D1 Q via the Chinese social-networking sites Weibo and a number of other online locations revealing an attractive if not revolutionary handset in terms of its design. Last week saw the first mention of the D1 Q, also revealed via social-networking, where it was said that the D stands for Diamond.
Unfortunately details on its specs didn't leak alongside the pictures but it is expected that the device is going to be packing a quad-core processor and running Android 4.0.
Chances are that it will be similarly spec'd to the P1 devices with the exception of the obvious improvement in the processor department. The P1 and P1 S both feature a 4.3" display, and front and rear-facing cameras. They also each come with Ice Cream Sandwich installed and the P1 is said to come with LTE connectivity as well as a bigger battery.
At much as the specs are a mystery so are its pricing and release date, but it won't be long until more is revealed. The handset is set to be officially launched at the end of this week and Huawei is touting it as its fastest smartphone to date. That's not really a difficult job considering that the company is well known for releasing averagely spec'd devices but the D1 Q, along with the P1 and P1 S could certainly change its reputation.
It won't be just smartphones that Huawei has on show at the MWC though and it's also rumoured to be launching a 10" follow-up to its 7" MediaPad tablet.
