Canada may have pipped the US to the post in the Galaxy Note race last week but now those south of the Canadian border can get their hands on the supersized smartphone from AT&T and Best Buy. The handset hits the carrier as expected without any delays and has already proved a success in Korea and Europe. While it's a phone that needs no introduction Samsung saw fit to show the device off in an Apple-mocking Super Bowl Advert this year which might have been unnecessarily over the top but certainly made its point.
Key features of the Note include a 5.3" display, dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. As well as this there's the stylus which helps give the tablet its name, 16GB of internal storage and 4G LTE connectivity. In addition to this there's an 8mp rear-facing camera with LED flash that can take 1080p HD video and a front-facing 2mp camera for video calling.
With its large screen and high-end specs the Note doesn't come cheap with AT&T offering for $299.99 on a two-year contract. Best Buy is also stocking it for the same price and in the same colours, carbon blue and ceramic white.

Although it was hard to know what to make of it at first the Note has proved such a large smartphone can work and has seemingly inspired LG to try its hand at something similar. Following a teaser video from Korea LG made its Vu official this week ahead of the MWC. The handset isn't quite as big at 5" but none the less offers similar functionality with its own stylus which is included with the device. It's copy-cat status is clear but for those who find that extra 0.3" a little too much it may be a viable alternative.
