HTC has been grabbing headlines lately with some pretty respectable hardware in the form of its One range. Now a less impressive but still interesting device known as the HTC Golf has been spotted for the first time in what appears to be a leaked press shot. It's been rumoured for a while and though unimpressively spec'd looks set to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the masses. What should make for a nice budget device is actually quite attractive and is shown running Android 4.0 and HTC's Sense 4 UI.
Key specs are unconfirmed at the moment but it's rumoured to be equipped with a single-core processor that's probably going to be clocked at less than 1GHz. It's also believed to feature 512MB of RAM, a 3.5" display and 4GB of internal storage. In addition to the built-in memory it should also offer two years of free Dropbox storage amounting to 25GB.
A front-facing camera, to complement a 5mp front-facing one, is tipped to be included as well which is an unusual feature for a budget device. Not only this but including ICS on such a low-end model should be a move welcomed by consumers.
While it certainly finds itself in a lower position than the least well spec'd One handset externally it bears a definite family resemblance to the brand. There's no indication of exactly how much it will cost or when it's going to arrive but it's expected to be touching down sometime before the end of the quarter.
Specs-wise the Golf doesn't look a million miles away from the new Desire range which HTC has recently launched in China, the VT T328t, VC T328d and V T328w. They also come with similar hardware, though bigger screens, and Android 4.0 pre-installed.
