It seems that the HTC One S and One X won't be getting released in the same week after all in the US as T-Mobile has confirmed that the handset is landing on April 25. The news comes at the same time as AT&T announces the slightly better spec'd One X though there's still plenty to recommend the One S. Already available in Europe and Asia the One S is the middle child of a trio of One handsets which also includes the One X and One V.
Underneath a 4.3" display the One S comes with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor backed up by 1GB of RAM. There's also 16GB of internal storage with a microSD slot for expansion as well as a rear-facing 8mp camera and front-facing VGA camera for video calling. Powering it all is a 1650mAh battery and it's going to ship with Android 4.0 pre-installed.
The key points that T-Mobile chooses to tout above the others are its skinny dimensions, it's just 7.95mm thick, and its speed offering connectivity on the carrier's HPSA+ network. Combining these two factors it's being promoted as T-Mobile's thinnest 4G handset.
There are no surprises where the price tag is concerned and the One S is going be sold for a very standard $199.99 on a two-year contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate. It's looking like the handset is going to go straight on sale, no pre-order period for this one, but anyone desperate for some One S action can sign up on the device's product page to be notified when it's available.
While it has a smaller screen than AT&T's One X for the same price early reviews of the handset have been quite positive suggesting that the carrier is on to a winner.
