Anyone who has been waiting to get the HTC One X from AT&T can now mark May 6 on their calendar as that's the day the carrier has confirmed it will start selling the handset. The news isn't much of a surprise, May 6 was one rumoured release date, but it's welcome as the One X is a well spec'd piece of equipment which comes pre-loaded with Android 4.0. Already released internationally the One X is the flagship device of the One range which also includes the One S and One V.
With a large 4.7" display the handset offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor backed up by 1GB of RAM. Internal storage weighs in at 16GB and in addition to this there's an 8mp camera on the rear joined by a front-facing 1.3mp camera for video calling. The camera promises zero shutter lag and autofocussing to avoid any delays when taking pictures in addition to good performance in low light conditions.
Powering it all is an embedded 1800mAh battery which it is claimed improves performance 50-100% compared to other HTC smartphones, with the aid of software enhancements.
The announcement of the tablet also goes some way to proving that the company is still committed to the Beats by Dr Dre integration, following the transition of Chief Financial Officer Winston Yung to a "corporate development role". HTC's One X boasts the same integration and comes with the Beatbox (an accessory exclusive to AT&T), Wireless HD Stereo Bluetooth Headphones, Beats Solo HD Headphones and UR Beats in-ear Headphones.
One previously rumoured release date was April 22 which it turns out is the day that pre-orders will start for the handset online and in stores. Anyone who's planning on getting one can expect to pay $199.99 on a two-year contract.
