The closer the launch of the Samsung Galaxy SIII gets the more the rumour mill works overtime and this week is no exception. Firstly a benchmark which has hit the web, if real, has spilled the beans on the handset's internal hardware.

Indicating that the Galaxy SIII is going to have a 4.7" display and an Exynos 4 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz (a fact already confirmed by Samsung) the benchmark is right inline with previous rumours. In the RAM department though it claims it's only going to have 1GB of RAM rather than the expected 2GB. While 1GB isn't bad by any means doubling the amount of RAM would ensure the device is future proof while maintaining its edge against the competition as a handset packing 2GB of RAM has already been announced this year.

Things get more of a bump where the cameras are concerned however and on the back it looks like there's a 12mp snapper joined by a front-facing 2mp one. There's nothing too surprising where the specs are concerned and nothing that hasn't already been speculated about, meaning that it should fulfil fan's expectations. The only other tidbit to be gleaned is that it's set to ship running Android 4.0 but that was a given anyway.

In terms of who's going to be selling it BGR is reporting is that Verizon will be getting in on the action this time round, having decided not to carry the Galaxy SII last year, and is most likely to be releasing it at some point over the summer.

There's less than a week to go now until the device gets its official launch in London and the buzz surrounding the device is reaching iPhone-esque proportions. Even without the Galaxy SIII Samsung has managed to overtake Nokia in its mobile sales this year, according to a recent study, so it seems as if things are only going to get better for the company when the much anticipated handset launches.
