It looks like Nokia isn't going to be the only one unveiling its first Windows Phone 8 devices in September if the latest report from WPDang is anything to go by. Two smartphones are supposedly set to be launched in the third weekend of the month which places their announcement not long after the Nokia World Event. The rumour gives a choice of two locations for the launch event, either New York or London, but as with the date it's going take place on the finer details are a bit vague. However the site is leaning towards a New York launch.
HTC is already rumoured to be delivering three WP8 devices with the first of the two, the Rio and Accord, due to be released in October ahead of the third device which is known as the Zenith. It stands to reason therefore that the Rio and the Accord are the ones which will be the subject of the September announcement. This is of course speculation but the evidence does add up.
A few things are known about what to expect in terms of hardware. The Rio is said to feature a 4" WVGA display and a 1GHz dual-core processor backed up by 512MB of RAM as well as a 5mp camera. The Accord on the other had has a 4.3" HD display with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8mp camera.
Though it doesn't look like it's going to be a part of the announcement the Zenith promises to be the best spec'd of the three with a 4.7" display and quad-core processor.
By Windows Phone standards the devices sound promising, especially the Accord, and along with whatever Nokia has in store will hopefully generate some more interest in the platform not to mention the phone-maker which has also been suffering from sluggish sales.
