There have been plenty of rumours and leaks surrounding a possible Sony phablet and the latest unofficial information to come from the company's direction suggests that its flagship could be even bigger than expected. The new information which was posted by a user in a forum relating to the upcoming handsets indicates that Sony is not just planning a 5" device but a 6" phablet as well.
While 6" may sound too big it's not the first time news of such a handset has hit the web. Recently an as yet unannounced 6" handset was spotted on Huawei's Chinese website. There's also plenty of speculation that the next Galaxy Note is going to have a 5.5" display, which seems fairly certain.
Aside from its screen the phone which is supposedly known as the Xperia 6 is said to feature an impressive 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (with a microSD card slot for expansion) and could be powered by a 3,500mAh battery. In addition to this there's also expected to be a 13mp camera on the back.
As for the 5" device that's similarly pegged for 3GB of RAM as well as 3000mAh battery and a 16mp rear-facing camera. While a processor wasn't specified for the larger device the 5" one is listed as coming with a quad-core Cortex-A15 chip.
A 4" mid-range device is also listed with a 720p resolution, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, and a 1500mAh battery.
The 5" quad-core device is expected to arrive in October next year, with the others looking like they'll arrive at some point in the first half of the year.
2012 has been a good year for Sony, becoming the second most popular Android manufacturer in the UK and knocking HTC into third Place. Samsung is a pretty big mountain to climb for first place but if the Xperia 6 delivers everything the leak promises then it seems like it could offer some serious competition to next year's selection of flagship Galaxy devices.
