Android News
Android is rapidly becoming the most popular handset and Tablet operating system, having grown from small beginnings back in 2007, when it arrived as an open mobile software platform, based on Linux and the Dalvik Java Virtual Machine. Android removes the effort of sustaining a software platform from handset vendors and has been enthusiastically embraced by HTC, which has grown on the back of the decision, and has proved critical in the turnaround of US handset maker Motorola Mobility. Today most handset vendors offer Android devices except Apple which supports its own iOS, and Nokia which has recently turned to Windows Phone 7 from Microsoft, and has continuing interests in Symbian, which it owns, and MeeGo, a Linux variant it built with Intel. Rethink Wireless has followed every development of Android and will continue coverage as it matures.
